PHP Developer – Core Platform Team – Digital Commerce (Hybrid) 

 

Due to high global demand for our products Experlogix is seeking a PHP Developer to join our Digital Commerce team in Drogheda, Ireland.  You report to the Director of Engineering for Digital Commerce and will also work as part of
a wider a global team that spans Ireland, The Netherlands, USA and Canada.
 

 

Demand for B2B eCommerce continues to rapidly grow globally.  It is a fast moving, complex and constantly evolving space where our products have a hugely significant impact for our customers and help them be successful in a multi-channel, digital world.   We are seeking a passionate, self-driven person to understand and deliver maximum value to our Product lines and by extension capture value for our customers and us as a company.       

As a PHP Developer for our B2B e-commerce platform, working in the Core Product Engineering Team, you will be at the forefront of building out new features into our suite of pr e-commerce products, bringing real value to delight our customers. 

 
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, product, and QA, to bring robust features and enhancements to our platform. 

 

You will have a strong sense of customer empathy and understanding of software design and development, in order to deliver solutions that meet the Product needs.  Collaboration is a key part of the role and you are a person that loves to understand the business value behind the solution.  You will work within our engineering team in an agile environment, striving for continuous improvement in all we do. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, build, and maintain backend components of our PHP-based e-commerce platform 
  • Work with our in-house framework, following established coding standards and conventions 
  • Implement integrations with third-party systems (ERPs, payment gateways, APIs, etc.) 
  • Develop and maintain frontend functionality using Twig and PHP (and occasionally React) 
  • Contribute to our React-based administrative application (basic React familiarity is sufficient; full training provided) 
  •  Write and maintain automated tests using Codeception (PHP unit/functional tests) and Cypress (end-to-end UI tests) 
  • Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and sprint ceremonies 
  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve performance or scalability issues in production 
  • Work with GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and AWS deployment 
  • Collaborate with the Product, Customer Engineering and Support teams to deliver maintainable, high-quality code 

 

Required Skills, Experience & Education 

  • Strong solution design skills, preferably in a SaaS based product development role. 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Pro-active mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability over the team's delivery. 
  • Knowledge and experience of e-commerce solutions and/or ERP integrations. 
  • Agile / Scrum experience with a passion for process improvement. 
  • Degree In Computer Science related field is desirable but not essential. 

 

Desirable skills 

  • Experience or understanding of React (hooks, functional components, context). 
  • Experience writing tests with Codeception or PHPUnit. 
  • Familiarity with Cypress for end-to-end UI testing. 
  • Experience working in AWS environments (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) or task scheduling (e.g., cron, queues) 
  • Exposure to B2B or e-commerce systems
