The People Operations Project Consultant provides specialized HR expertise to support organizational initiatives, process improvements, and strategic objectives. This incumbent will partner with leadership, PO teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, implement, and deliver PO projects on time and within scope, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance requirements.

What you will do:

  • Lead and manage assigned PO-related projects from initiation through completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to successfully define project goals, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Develop project plans, status reports, and presentations for leadership and project sponsors.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, focus groups and change management activities to support adoption of new PO initiatives.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • As assigned, assess current PO processes, policies, and programs; identify gaps and recommend improvements.
  • As assigned, design and implement solutions that impact multiple PO functions such as talent acquisition, talent development, talent management, compensation, performance management, employee relations, compliance, HRIS, and organizational development.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, best practices, and data-driven insights to support decision-making.
  • Manage risks, resolve issues, and adjust project plans as needed to meet objectives.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and ensure that all programs remain compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures, and requirements. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and make recommendations to current employee policies and programs to improve the organization and the employee experience.
  • Support and represent Buckner at special events, activities, and other assigned functions.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training as required; facilitate meetings and training as required.
  • Work successfully as a part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
  • Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience across People Operations functions including talent acquisition, talent development, compensation, benefits, and/or total rewards programs required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on strategic thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, and gain executive and managerial buy-in, to gain support for People Operations initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills including but not limited to negotiation, influence and consensus building to interface with employees at all levels within the organization as well as external vendors and agencies.
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Office applications and other software.
  • Proven track record of success in implementing programs that attract and retain a high performing and diverse workforce. Demonstrated experience implementing process improvement initiatives or re-engineering processes.
  • Experienced in data analytics and comfortable using results from that data to drive and influence important decisions.
  • Well-versed on federal and state employment laws.
  • Experience working with remote employees preferred.
  • Travel domestically as needed to monitor, assess, and help develop programs. Position can function in a remote work arrangement but attendance in person at the Buckner locations is required as needed.
