People Operations Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

The Role

Are you an HR expert who thrives on variety and international complexity? We’re looking for a People Operations Specialist to provide maternity cover for one year, stepping in as the operational backbone for our teams across Europe. This isn't a role where you'll be sitting on the sidelines; from day one, you’ll own the end-to-end lifecycle for our employees in the Netherlands and our new markets (Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Austria). Our new markets have a combined FTE of 35 employees and the Netherlands has 230 employees. Please note that you will work alongside other People Operations Coordinators for the Netherlands. 

What Will You Actually Do?

In this role, you aren’t just processing paperwork; you are responsible for keeping the HR machine running and for bridging the gap between our global strategy and the local employee experience.

Your work will focus on these core areas:

  • Manage the Dutch Systems & Portals: You will take full ownership of our Dutch compliance ecosystem alongside 2 other team members. This includes the end-to-end administration of 30% rulings via the Belastingdienst, managing IND visa sponsorships, and handling all UWV communications for statutory leaves ( maternity, paternity, and parental).

  • Relocation & Support: You’ll provide the "soft-landing" support that makes a difference for (international) hires moving to the Netherlands and our new markets, serving as their first point of contact for policy questions, employer statements, and benefits.

  • Drive Multi-Country Operations: You’ll be the primary People Ops contact for Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Austria. You’ll work hand-in-hand with local HR Business Partners and Country Leads to process everything from local meal/transport vouchers to complex contract amendments/policies tailored to local labor laws. As these are new markets, you will also support the further development and improvement of the HR landscape. 

  • HR Administration and Support: You will maintain HiBob, our HR system, with 100% accuracy. By ensuring every data point - from leave tracking to new hire details - is precise, you’ll play a critical role in seamless payroll preparation and reporting. You will also serve as the first point of contact for all internal inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and employer statements, and will resolve tickets via our Jira system.

  • Champion Wellbeing & Parental Journeys: You will act as the dedicated resource for our Physical Wellbeing program (handling vendor relations for EGYM, Wellhub, Urban Sports Club, etc.) and serve as the empathetic guide for new parents, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout their parental leave journey.

  • Growth & Expansion: Support the wider People Team as Fastned grows, helping us navigate the administrative challenges of growing headcount in all our territories.


Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for an HR professional who enjoys the puzzle of international operations - someone who can balance the strict compliance of labor law with the creative problem-solving needed to scale a growing company. Since this is a maternity cover, we need a steady hand who can maintain our high standards while also polishing our current processes. You must also be based in the Netherlands, as our People Operations team is based there. 

The Essentials:

  • Proven People Ops Foundation: You have 2+ years of experience in a People Ops or HR Generalist role. If you’ve worked in a fast-paced, international scale-up before, you’ll feel right at home here.

  • The "Compliance & Systems" Mindset: You have a solid foundation in Dutch HR administration (IND, UWV, 30% ruling) and aren't afraid of a Jira ticket queue. Experience with HiBob and Lattice is a massive plus, as you’ll be keeping these systems running.

  • Discretion & Detail: You’ll be handling sensitive data and complex contracts. Your attention to detail is your superpower, and you treat confidentiality as a top priority.

  • The Language Mix: Our company language is English, so you’ll need to be fluent in both written and verbal communication. If you happen to speak Dutch, German, Italian, Danish, or Spanish, that’s a huge plus for our regional entities!

  • Adaptability: You are comfortable with the fact that you aren't starting "from scratch." You enjoy taking over existing projects, auditing what’s there, and making them even better during your time with us.

Electric mobility is a new territory for you? Don’t worry! As part of your onboarding, you will participate in a series of exciting workshops where you will learn everything about our industry and fast-charging infrastructure.
