Payroll Specialist - Asia Pacific & Latin America

Position Overview 

The APAC and LATAM Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payrolls across multiple countries within the APAC and LATAM regions. Sitting in the US, this role acts as the key liaison between local HR teams, finance, third-party payroll providers, and employees, ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal policies.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Manage the payroll email inbox and respond to inquiries related to international payroll activities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from employees and internal teams
  • Coordinate monthly payroll processing for employees across APAC and LATAM regions in collaboration with external payroll vendors
  • Review and validate payroll inputs (e.g. new hires, terminations, bonuses, overtime, benefits, tax details)
  • Perform gross-to-net pay checks and reconciliation reports, ensuring accurate and timely payments
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements (tax, social security, pensions, etc.)
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and regulatory changes in each country within remit
  • Maintain accurate employee records in the HR/payroll systems
  • Support audits and reporting requirements related to payroll
  • Collaborate with Finance on payroll funding, journal entries, and month-end reporting
  • Prepare, reconcile, and post semi-monthly and monthly payroll journal entries for international locations
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and complete BlackLine reviews for global entities during month-end close
  • Assist in implementing payroll process improvements and system enhancements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience in multi-country payroll, ideally across both APAC and LATAM regions
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation in key countries (e.g. China, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, etc.)
  • Experience working with third-party payroll providers
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive data with discretion
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with payroll or HRIS systems (e.g. UKG, Workday, ADP, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines across multiple time zones

Other Attributes: 

  • Payroll certification
  • Experience with system implementation or payroll migrations
  • Understanding of international mobility and expatriate payrolls

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
