We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll & Benefits Officer to support the payroll and benefits function across the UK, with the opportunity to gain exposure to US and EU payroll as the business grows.
Working closely with HR, Finance, and our external payroll providers, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and benefits administration. This is a hands-on role suited to someone eager to learn, develop their payroll expertise, and grow into owning the payroll function over time.
This role offers a clear progression path toward a Payroll Manager position as the company continues to scale internationally.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Support the end-to-end payroll process for UK employees, working in partnership with external payroll providers (e.g. ADP).
- Collect, review, and input payroll data including new hires, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, deductions, and benefits information.
- Maintain payroll spreadsheets and ensure data accuracy across HR systems and internal inputs.
- Review payroll outputs and payslips, identifying and resolving discrepancies prior to submission and payment.
- Coordinate payroll approvals with Finance each pay cycle.
- Support benefits administration, acting as a point of contact for vendors and employee queries.
- Respond to employee questions relating to payroll and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Support audits, reporting, and ad-hoc payroll-related requests.
- Assist with process improvements and documentation as the payroll function matures.
- Gain exposure to US and EU payroll processes over time, with support and training.
The Ideal candidate will have the following skillset:
- Experience supporting or administering payroll in the UK (in-house or via a payroll provider).
- Basic understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and handling payroll data.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with HR, Finance, and external vendors.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Familiarity with payroll or HR systems is beneficial (ADP and HiBob are a plus).
- Payroll qualifications (e.g. CIPP) are advantageous but not required.
