Payroll Compliance Manager

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Payroll Compliance Manager in the United States. This role offers a hands-on, leadership-driven opportunity to oversee and optimize multi-state payroll operations for a rapidly growing organization. You will manage a small team of payroll specialists while directly handling payroll processing, audits, and compliance issue resolution. With responsibility for union and prevailing wage payroll, you will ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to multi-jurisdiction regulations. This position requires a strategic mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment. You will have the chance to modernize payroll processes, implement system improvements, and influence compliance strategy across the organization. Accountabilities:
  • Leading weekly payroll processing and resolving any discrepancies for 600+ employees.
  • Building and maintaining payroll compliance controls, audits, and documentation.
  • Managing prevailing wage processes and reporting, including L&I filings.
  • Overseeing union payroll compliance, updating processes as collective bargaining agreements change.
  • Collaborating with field leaders to secure accurate and timely timecard approvals.
  • Researching legislative changes and translating them into actionable payroll policies.
  • Driving payroll system enhancements, including process improvements and migrations.

  • Requirements:
    The ideal candidate will bring substantial payroll expertise and proven leadership in compliance. Requirements include:
  • 8+ years of payroll experience.
  • 5+ years of combined prevailing wage and union payroll compliance experience.
  • Experience managing at least one direct report.
  • Proficiency with L&I reporting, LCP Tracker, and complex payroll systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and process-driven approach.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-jurisdiction environment.
