About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Payroll, Compensation & Benefits Intern who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.
As an intern on the People Operations team, you will work directly with the Senior Director of Payroll & Benefits, gaining hands-on exposure to multi-country payroll operations, compensation administration, and benefits management across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This is a learning-focused role designed to develop the next generation of People Operations talent at Sezzle, with a clear pathway for full-time conversion based on performance.
What You’ll Do:

Support end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries (US, Canada, Colombia), including data entry, reconciliation, and documentation.

Assist with benefits enrollment, terminations, and employee lifecycle changes in our HRIS and benefits platforms.

Perform data quality checks across payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and benefits audits, including preparing supporting documentation and reconciling variances.

Assist with compensation research and benchmarking, including compiling market data for the annual compensation review cycle.

Help manage vendor invoices, track reconciliations, and prepare payment requests for payroll and benefits providers.

Maintain employee files and records in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction.

Support compliance workstreams, including ERISA, ACA, FLSA and Colombian labor law, through data preparation and documentation.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits and compensation

Document and map payroll, compensation, and benefits processes to identify automation and efficiency opportunities.
- Support the administration of employee leave of absences, disability claims and COBRA

Participate in AI and automation initiatives within the People Operations function, including testing new tools and contributing to process improvements.
- Assist in the collection and filing of payroll and benefit tax forms

Support ad-hoc People Operations projects as they relate to Sezzle's growth, Utah Industrial Loan Company (ILC) bank charter readiness, and international expansion.
What We Look For:
- Current university student or recent graduate in Finance
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
- English proficiency (written and verbal) — must be able to collaborate with US-based teams daily.
- Spanish fluency (native or near-native).
- Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and eagerness to learn new domains.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.
- Interested in developing AI driven skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Colombian payroll, taxation, and labor compliance.
- Interest in AI, automation, and RegTech applications within People Operations.

Compensation: The salary for the Payroll, Compensation & Benefits is 700 USD monthly gross.
