The Payor Engagement Director is responsible for directly engaging with payor organizations to drive coverage, access, and reimbursement for bioMérieux's diagnostic solutions. This role is focused on establishing and strengthening relationships with payor decision-makers, negotiating coverage criteria, utilization management utilization, resolving reimbursement barriers, and enhancing the payor landscape for bioMérieux products. The Director will be accountable for identifying and implementing access improvement initiatives with specific payors where necessary.
 
Primary Duties
  1. Build and maintain relationships with payor and LBM medical directors, coverage policy teams, and other reimbursement stakeholders.
  2. Deliver payor-focused communications that clearly demonstrate the clinical and economic value of bioMérieux's diagnostic products. Align on the global and local narrative for payer engagements. Contribute to enhancing the narrative, communicate payer objections to internal team and implement objection handling narratives in continued payer engagements.
  3. Negotiate with payors to improve product access, secure positive coverage policies, and address reimbursement challenges.
  4. Identify payor-specific access and reimbursement gaps and develop tactical engagement plans to address them.
  5. Manage direct interactions with national, regional, and government payor organizations to advocate for favorable coverage and coding policies.
  6. Proactively identify policy update timeline, design engagement message and communicate model language and evidence justification.
  7. Respond to payor requests for evidence, clinical information, and economic data in collaboration with internal subject matter experts.
  8. Support resolution of payor-related barriers impacting patient access to diagnostics.
  9. Track, report, and document all payor interactions, outcomes, and access changes for internal visibility.
  10. Represent bioMérieux at payor meetings, conferences, and relevant industry events focused on reimbursement and access policy.
  11. Collaborate, plan and execute in lockstep with the market access strategy and other payer engagement team members. Support the escalation of payer engagement from the hyperlocal team.
  12. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in in health policy, business, life sciences, or public health (MBA, MPH, MHA) required
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare, diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry with a strong focus on payor engagement and reimbursement.
    1. Proven success building payor relationships and securing improved coverage or reimbursement outcomes.
    2. In-depth understanding of U.S. healthcare payor systems (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and diagnostic reimbursement processes.
    3. Experience  delivering payor-facing value communications.
    4. Knowledge of payor evidence requirements and policy development processes.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with payor audiences.
  • Excellent public presentation, verbal and written communication skills tailored to payor needs.
  • Ability to identify access barriers and tactically engage payors to resolve issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic reimbursement, coding, and payor policy structures.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple payor interactions simultaneously.
 
 
The estimated salary range for this role is between $215,000 - $269,600/year. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
