Truevo Payments Ltd is a growing company that values diversity and professional development, seeking ambitious, passionate, adaptable, and committed team members, and providing competitive salaries and country-specific perks.
Truevo is looking for a Payment Operations & Treasury Officer, who will be responsible for the accurate and timely execution of all payment-related activities, including merchant payouts, inward/outward transactions, operational fund movements, and communication with banking partners, and will possess excellent communication and organisational skills with an acute sense of attention to detail.
This role supports daily payment operations and treasury execution tasks while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory obligations within a high-risk, card-not-present (CNP) merchant acquiring environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payment Operations
- Process all inward and outward payment instructions, including card transactions, merchant settlements, and operational transfers, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage customer payout processing, ensuring adherence to cut-off times and internal SLAs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve card and payment processing issues, raising incidents when needed.
- Perform investigations of payment discrepancies, failed transactions, chargebacks, or settlement anomalies.
- Monitor outstanding or pending payments and liaise with counterparty banks or processors for timely resolution.
- Maintain full and accurate records of all payment operations in line with audit, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Treasury Execution
Focused only on execution and operational support — not ownership of liquidity forecasting or oversight.
- Execute treasury transactions, including internal fund transfers, currency exchanges, and account top-ups based on instructions from Finance/Accounts.
- Prepare and send bank payment instructions, ensuring correct documentation and approvals.
- Assist with treasury administrative tasks, including maintaining transaction logs and supporting Finance with treasury-related data.
- Coordinate with banking partners and payment providers on treasury execution issues such as delayed transfers, account queries, or transaction clarifications.
- Ensure segregation of safeguarded and operational funds is respected during execution (as instructed).
Banking Partner & Stakeholder Communication
- Act as an operational point of contact for banking partners, payment processors, and FX providers.
- Respond to payment and treasury execution queries from external institutions (banks, processors).
- Support internal teams — Customer Success, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, Technical, and Finance — on payment-related matters.
- Escalate account-level issues or operational blockages promptly.
Operational Controls & Compliance
- Follow all internal policies and MFSA/EMI/PI operational guidelines relevant to payment processing and treasury execution.
- Support the Finance/Reconciliation team with payment information, settlement confirmations, and exception items.
- Immediately escalate operational risks, unusual transaction behaviours, or discrepancies to management and relevant teams.
- Assist in onboarding new payment rails, processors, or bank accounts from an operational perspective.
Process & System Improvements
- Identify and propose process optimisation or automation opportunities within Payment Operations and Treasury execution.
- Participate in testing and feedback for system enhancements affecting payout flows, payment processing, or treasury tools.
General & Cross-Functional Duties
- Perform other operational duties assigned by management.
- Adapt to a dynamic environment where responsibilities may evolve.
- Maintain continuous learning and development about payment products, card schemes, treasury processes, and acquiring operations.
Requirements
- Qualification in banking or similar
- Minimum of 2 years local payments processing-related experience will be an advantage
- Experience and knowledge of SWIFT and card payments will be considered as an asset
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
