Position Overview
We are seeking a Payment Operations Assistant Manager to support and oversee day-to-day operations in our fast-growing credit card processing ISO. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient merchant onboarding, smooth transaction processing, compliance with industry regulations, and delivering excellent service to our partners and merchants. The Assistant
Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and other teams to streamline processes, maintain quality control, business development and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchant Onboarding & Support
Assist in managing the merchant application and underwriting process.
Ensure timely and accurate setup of merchant accounts.
Serve as a point of escalation for merchant service issues.
Transaction & Operations Management
Monitor daily credit card processing operations, including settlements, chargebacks and reconciliations.
Coordinate with payment processors, sponsor banks, and vendors to resolve issues quickly.
Track and report KPIs related to transaction processing and merchant satisfaction
Compliance & Risk Oversight:
Assist with compliance checks (PCI, KYC, AML) to minimize risk.
Support audits and ensure adherence to ISO, card brand, and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate documentation of merchant accounts and compliance records.
Process Improvement
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in operations; recommend solutions to streamline workflow.
Implement best practices to improve merchant experience and reduce operational costs.
Support the development and training of junior staff.
Team Collaboration
Act as second-in-command to the EVP, Merchant Services
Coordinate cross-departmental projects (sales, risk, finance, IT).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field (preferred).
5+ years of experience in merchant services, payments, or financial operations.
Knowledge of ISO/MSP operations, payment gateways, and settlement processes.
Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance, risk management, chargeback processes, UW, and Interchange qualifications
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, CRM, and payment processing platforms.
