We’re looking for a Patient Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. In this role, you’ll manage patient billing inquiries, follow up on outstanding balances, and help ensure every patient interaction reflects our commitment to care, clarity, and compassion.
About Talkiatry:
Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.
60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low, and paperwork is unduly burdensome. With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.
You will:
Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and assist with billing-related questions.
Manage delinquent account lists and communicate past-due or discharge notices as needed.
Work with third-party collection agencies to add or remove patients from collections and resolve any agency inquiries.
Handle billing escalations and resolve ServiceNow tickets efficiently and professionally.
Maintain clear, accurate documentation of all patient and agency communications.
Partner with internal teams—including Patient Experience, Finance, and Clinical Operations—to ensure smooth billing resolution and an excellent patient experience.
Uphold HIPAA standards and maintain confidentiality in all interactions.
Educate patients on their insurance benefits, coverage details, and expected out-of- pocket costs.
Provide clear explanations of copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-network considerations.
Collaborate with internal teams to improve cost transparency and reduce billing confusion or financial barriers to care.
Support initiatives aimed at reducing patient bad debt through early financial engagement and education.
You have:
2+ years of experience in medical billing, collections, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems preferred.
Familiarity with working alongside collection agencies.
Excellent communication skills—empathetic, clear, and professional.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Comfortable working remotely and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
