About the team and position

The Parts Manager, Dealership Operations is responsible for the success of the dealership’s parts businesses and overall facilities management. This leader oversees a team of up to 40 team members, driving customer satisfaction, profit growth, compliance, and operational excellence across the dealership.

What you’ll be doing

Management – Parts 

    • Lead and manage a team of specialty parts buyers to verify the correct parts are being ordered within the appropriate parameters and timelines.
    • Leverage expertise to help meet organization KPIs and measure employees performance, hold employees accountable and maximize department efforts. 
    • Partner and maintain quality relationships with local parts vendors and manage vendor performance to ensure vendors are meeting our expectations and business needs.
    • Work closely with the on-site leadership team to hire, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of all parts department staff.
    • Oversee open parts orders and parts aging lists to effectively minimize parts returns and reduce unexpected costs.
    • Perform loss prevention duties by meeting accounting and LP requirements to prevent parts theft and reduce spend for the business.
    • Conduct consistent verification of process audits to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being followed correctly by employees.
    • Develop and provide guidance to leaders in the parts department in order to help them grow their functional expertise and leadership skills.
    • Support the Inspection Center team by communicating when vehicle parts are received for vehicles moving through the reconditioning process to help meet production targets.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Facilities – Dealership Maintenance & Compliance

  • Ensure the service facility is well-maintained, clean, and fully compliant with brand and OEM image standards.
  • Directly manage service vendors (e.g., paint and body, detail to ensure efficient, high-quality work at a competitive cost. Enforce workplace safety standards, OSHA requirements, and loss-prevention measures to protect associates and customers.

People Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, and retain high-performing Service team; maintain a bench of candidates for key positions.
  • Improve, sustain and oversee training, certification, and career progression programs for associates at all levels.
  • Deliver competency-based feedback and performance reviews to drive accountability and growth.
  • Mentor service associates to strengthen leadership capabilities, functional expertise and  operational execution.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the dealership.

What you should have

    • 5-7 years of parts management is strongly preferred. 
    • Either a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
    • Proven track record of monitoring and working with parts vendors to make sure parts are ordered in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities overseeing multiple teams and initiatives simultaneously.
    • Excellent oral communication, written communication, and active listening skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Vigilant attention to detail working with computer systems and applications.
    • Experience in project management and exceptional organizational skills.
    • An ability to learn quickly, effectively transfer knowledge to others, and delegate tasks.

Other requirements

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver's license 
  • A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations or DUI’s in the last three years
  • Work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • Use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special programs and events.
  • Frequent standing and sitting with varying periods of each
  • Lift up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Walk up to three miles each day
