Vortexa is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to join our rapidly growing data operations team. This strategic role combines commercial acumen with technical data expertise to identify, evaluate, and secure high-value data partnerships that enhance our information & analytics platform. You'll be responsible for sourcing and negotiating data agreements while ensuring commercial viability, working at the intersection of product development, vendor management, and business strategy to strengthen Vortexa's competitive position in the energy intelligence market.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and secure data partnerships across satellite data, port data, trade flows, and alternative data sources
  • Lead commercial negotiations with data providers, structuring partnerships that balance value against cost and licensing terms
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence on data quality, coverage, latency, and competitive positioning
  • Build detailed business cases including cost-benefit analyses, ROI assessments, and market impact evaluation
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance against SLAs and quality benchmarks
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to prioritise acquisitions aligned with client needs and product roadmap
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor data strategies to identify gaps and opportunities in Vortexa's coverage
  • Build and maintain industry networks with data vendors, partners, and marketplace participants
  • Represent Vortexa at industry conferences and position the company as a strategic partner in the data ecosystem

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a market trading, broking, operation or customer facing role related to the oil & gas or shipping market
  • Experience with software visualisation tools/web applications.
  • Broad understanding of market fundamentals, across seaborne oil and gas routes and trading strategies.
  • Highly proficient in face to face communications and the ability to articulate  value driven solutions.
  • Experience producing written materials and presentations.
  • Results-orientated focus, with the ability to efficiently prioritise multiple objectives.
  • An inquisitive mind towards the use of data and technology in shipping and trading.
