The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that out-of-state legal requests are properly processed and enforceable within the local jurisdiction and has deep expertise in navigating the complexities of the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act (UIDDA) as well as the unique procedural requirements of non-UIDDA states. This role requires a deep understanding of interstate discovery rules and a high level of expertise in navigating the specific legal frameworks required for these filings.

Responsibilities

  • Expertly manage the end-to-end process of domesticating foreign subpoenas, ensuring they are valid for both in-bound and out-bound legal cases
  • Navigate the varying state-by-state requirements and unique complexities involved in large, multi-state legal cases to ensure all documents are legally sound
  • Utilize Legal Connect software to track filings and coordinate the fast, accurate service of process across all 50 U.S. states and territories
  • Handle subpoenas that must be processed from other state courts or federal district courts, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national laws
  • Ensure all subpoenas are correctly served to prevent failures in compliance, which could lead to legal punishment for recipients

Requirements

  • Must be a verified expert in handling the domestication of foreign subpoenas, with specific knowledge of UIDDA and non-UIDDA procedures.
  • Proven track record working for a U.S.-based law firm or process serving agency, specifically handling thousands of foreign subpoenas across multiple decades or case types.
  • Deep understanding of duces tecum (seeking documents) and ad testificandum (requiring testimony) subpoena types
  • Proficiency in Legal Connect software
  • Strong communicative English skills are essential for coordinating between trial states and discovery states
