We are seeking a Painter to join our community committed to delivering outstanding service to our community residents and guests. As a Painter will be responsible for painting and repairing walls, woodwork, furniture and fixtures in common areas and member and resident living spaces. What you'll do:
- Prepares painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, sanding, or removing old paint. Fills holes and interstices with putty or other filler.
- Cleans metal surfaces and exterior walls with a metal scraper and steel wool brush to remove dirt, rust and scale. Removes old paint by applying paint remover.
- Removes fixtures such as doorknobs and light switch covers to prevent over paint.
- Repairs holes in drywall using spackling compound or other materials.
- Measures, cuts, fits and fastens drywall panels to wood or metal structures.
- Prepares joints with proper drywall corners, floats, and textures.
- Tapes joints, holes, and uses spackling to float joints, sands joints to a smooth finish even with surrounding drywall.
- Applies appropriate texture to surfaces according to instructions and/or to match surrounding drywall.
- Paints and redecorate walls, woodwork, furniture and fixtures. Scrapes, brushes or burns off old paint. Mixes color oils and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color and consistency or thins ready-mixed paint as necessary. Applies paint with brush or spray gun.
- Protects the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic and utilizing tape to provide clean paint lines.
- Moves furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project.
- Calculates the amount of materials and time required for projects.
- Cleans supplies and replaces fixtures during and at completion of the project.
- Communicates with members, residents and associates regarding upcoming paint projects.
- Assists other maintenance employees where assistance is needed.
- Maintains compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintains compliance with all federal and state laws. Maintains compliance with all agency regulatory guidelines and requirements.
- Works successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and training as required.
- Performs general office tasks as required.
- Performs other assignments and duties as requested
What you’ll bring:
- One year related experience preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instruction.
- Ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and /or up to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
- Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance.
- Ability to stand, wall, climb stairs and ladders; and push and pull equipment. Ability to move heavy materials and equipment. Crouches, kneels, stoops, reaches, and turns over 75% of shift.
- Ability to recognize difference in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operating problems or safety concerns.
- Ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks. Some initiative and judgment involved in providing assistance to others wherever required.
- Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in vicinity and ability to cooperate and work with other employees. Ability to learn to adjust and operate electric-powered equipment. ability to work with hand and tools.
- Requires ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
- Requires ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others.
- Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
- Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, communicate with people in situations with some background noise.
- Requires ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications required.
- Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under The Stayton at Museum Way by Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of The Stayton at Museum Way by Buckner.
- Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
- Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Associates shall not be permitted to work who have infectious disease or skin lesion for the duration of the communicability.
