Position Overview

As a Paint Prepper, you’ll be a key member of the body shop team, tasked with preparing vehicles for paint repair and aesthetic finishing. This role is vital to achieving the flawless results that define Gabe’s reputation.

Responsibilities

· Surface preparation: Sanding, masking, taping, priming, and applying surface treatments to ensure vehicles are paint-ready.

· Damage inspection & cleanup: Detecting imperfections, cleaning surfaces, and verifying readiness prior to paint application.

· Material & tool handling: Managing prep materials (e.g., primers, masking supplies), using air tools safely, and maintaining an organized workspace.

· Quality control: Collaborating with production colleagues to maintain high standards aligned with Gabe’s “eye for excellence” philosophy Gabe's Auto.

· Safety & compliance: Adhering to all shop safety protocols, including use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials.

· Documentation: Maintaining accurate prep logs and reporting any issues or deviations.

Requirements

· Experience in automotive paint preparation: Prior roles in auto body shops or collision centers strongly preferred.

· Detail-Oriented: Able to spot and address minor flaws pre-paint.

· Technically Proficient: Skilled in sanding, masking, taping, priming, and mixing for preparation.

· Team Player: Comfortable coordinating with painters, detailers, and service crew.

· Reliable & Responsible: On-time, safety-conscious, and committed to high standards.

· Physical readiness: Ability to stand, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
