Lighthouse Reports is hiring a part-time open-source intelligence fellow to work with us from 16 March 2026 to 18 September 2026.

Fellows will be mentored by Lighthouse journalists and fully embedded within investigations. Where possible, they will also join our remotely distributed team for in-person meetings.

As part of our commitment to expand investigative journalism in underrepresented communities, we are recruiting an OSINT fellow exclusively from Majority World countries.

Lighthouse Reports is a multi award-winning nonprofit newsroom renowned for innovative public interest investigations that reach global public audiences. Working with many of the world’s leading media, our teams pursue investigations dealing with the most important issues of our time, from migration and climate to conflict and technology and accountability.

Lighthouse is registered in The Netherlands with an ANBI status. Its core team works from four different continents.

What to expect as a Lighthouse fellow 

Over the course of six months, you will work with us to seed investigations, build reporting coalitions and devise impact strategies. You will sharpen your journalistic skills with some of the leaders in the field. You will apply your unique strengths to ongoing investigations.

  • This is a part-time fellowship requiring 2.5 days per week, lasting for 6 months. 
  • We offer a stipend of €1,100 per month. 
  • We are a distributed team and you can be based anywhere in the world with a good internet connection. Fellows must provide their own laptop. 

Is this you? 

You are an early-career professional, with less than five years of professional experience in journalism or a related field, who is passionate about investigative journalism and committed to the hard work involved in cross-border collaborations. You are constantly curious about new ways of doing journalism and making it reach the people that matter. You thrive in diverse and multicultural teams.

Shortlisted applicants can expect to get a written assignment by 23 January and be interviewed by 13 February

Requirements

  • Less than five years of working experience 
  • Some prior experience in journalism or journalism-adjacent field
  • Citizen of a Majority World country
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Prior experience contributing to online open source investigations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of visual verification techniques 
  • Understanding of information collection across various social media platforms
