NorthStar Earth & Space runs a 24/7 SDA and STM data processing infrastructure, developed and operated by a global team of experts supporting customers around the world. To continue the growth of our Luxembourg office, we are looking for an Orbital Dynamics Specialist. 

 

Who you'll work with    

  
You will be joining a team of orbital dynamics experts performing real-time SDA operations and leveraging NorthStar’s orbital dynamics and data analytics tool suite.   

  

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, software developers, and other technical experts based in Luxembourg and distributed across all NorthStar locations. Together we are committed to developing innovative solutions for monitoring the space environment using multiple sources for observations and geospatial data.   

   

What you will do    

  

  • Monitor SDA operations activity and investigate orbital events identified by the customer. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise by providing photometric, measurement, and orbital data analysis to identify and characterize maneuvers, behavioral evolutions, and other anomalies based on a live SDA data feed. 
  • User and improve internal tools to perform initial orbit determination, anomaly detection, maneuver detection, and other SDA analyses. 
  • Monitor automated NorthStar Orbit Determination pipelines and refine solutions with CLI tools.  
  • Regularly interface with and report results to the customer and internal stakeholders.  
  • Work with development teams to continuously improve NorthStar tools by providing feedback, testing new releases, and digging into the code.  
  • Develop, maintain, and update processes and procedures for our industry-leading operations.  

 

What you bring to the table    

   

We are looking for experts with at least two years of experience but are open to candidates in different career stages. If you meet most of the criteria below, please don’t hesitate to apply! 

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an engineering or science domain related to astrodynamics. 
  • Professional experience working with orbit determination, flight dynamics, collision avoidance, or other space mission operations, with experience in a customer-facing environment valued. 
  • Proven ability to code in Python or another programming language. 
  • Passion for working in a multidisciplinary team, thinking independently, and solving problems in a high-paced environment. 
  • Ability and willingness to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting communication style to different audiences and translating complex information into simple words.
