The Fleet Operations Program Management team at Zoox is responsible for delivering cross-functional programs and projects critical to the successful growth, expansion, and efficient operation of Zoox’s commercial service. We partner closely with Fleet Operations teams and stakeholders from other departments to verify, validate, launch, and operate the latest software on our fleet while continuously improving our operational processes and procedures to deliver a premium customer experience.  We’re seeking a Fleet Operations Program Management Intern to support the Fleet Operations program management team. Our testing fleet, comprising hundreds of vehicles across multiple cities and private testing tracks, is rapidly expanding in size and geographic reach. As our operations expand, we need ever better processes, tools, and strategies to support Zoox's autonomous vehicle development and the continued expansion of our product.   • Continuous Improvement (Kaizen): Conduct "ride-alongs" and site visits to observe ground-level operations and identify "waste" (time, movement, or resources) that data alone might miss.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Deep dive on our operations and data to determine why specific assets are underperforming and begin developing corrective action strategies. 
  • Feedback Loops: Create feedback loops that enable operations managers to track operational performance using metrics that facilitate future root-cause analysis.
  • Project Lifecycle Leadership: Identify an operational bottleneck, quantify its impact, propose a solution, and lead the implementation of a "small-scale" pilot project.
  • Process Standardization: As needed, create and document standard operating procedures to ensure efficient, effective, and consistent performance across markets.
  • Cross-Functional Analysis: Work across departments, product management, software development, and vehicle engineering, to implement performance improvement projects. 
  • Data-Driven Storytelling: Clean and analyze operational data to build business cases for new efficiency initiatives or technology investments.
  • Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Operations, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Good academic standing
  • Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026.
  • At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project completed in a relevant area
  • Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internshipInterns at Zoox may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox
  • Qualifications
  • The "Efficiency" Lens: A proven ability to break down a complex process into its individual steps and identify where time or money is being lost.
  • Project Management Basics: Familiarity with project management frameworks (e.g., Gantt charts, RACI matrices, or Kanban).
  • Communication: Ability to present findings to both "boots on the ground" operators and senior leadership.
  • Analytical Tools: Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets is required; you should be comfortable with data hygiene and basic trend analysis.
  • Bonus Qualifications
  • Proficiency with SQL queries, Smartsheet, DataBricks, and Looker.
  • Project management training or certifications.
  • Passion for self-driving technology and the positive social impact it will have.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or Operations Research concepts.
  • The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $7,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).
