Position: Operations Mechanic (Levels I - III)
Location: Richmond, VA
Shift: Flexible for 2nd and 3rd Shift
Pay Rate: $28.00 - $35.00/hr. (10% Night Differential included for 2nd & 3rd Shift)
We are seeking skilled Operations Mechanics (Levels I–III) to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pharmaceutical packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Job Summary
The Operations Mechanic will operate and maintain a variety of equipment used in pharmaceutical packaging. This position involves performing routine maintenance, changeovers, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and repairs while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair packaging equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers.
Follow cGMP, safety, and regulatory standards to maintain compliance and product quality.
Maintain clean and organized work areas in alignment with 5S principles.
Ensure machine guards, interlocks, and safety devices are properly installed and functioning.
Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures during repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance and major equipment overhauls.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and lubrication in required logbooks.
Report accidents, hazards, or incidents promptly.
Support production by assisting in equipment operation when needed.
Collaborate with team members to maintain productivity, safety, and quality.
Complete required training and assist in training new employees.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to obtain forklift certification within 6 months.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong hand-eye coordination.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle containers weighing 50–100 lbs. with appropriate equipment.
Work Environment
Exposure to pharmaceutical raw materials, high temperatures, wet floors, and potentially flammable or caustic substances.
Use of personal protective equipment may be required.
Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as needed.
