The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Operations Assistant, National Advocacy Institute in the Executive Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.
The National Advocacy Institute (NAI) is the ACLU’s investment in the next generation of civil rights and civil liberties advocates. Engaging with high-school and college-aged students, NAI convenes participants from across the United States for in-person learning experiences to expand, sharpen, and hone their advocacy skills. In its current portfolio, NAI hosts two annual programs (a residential high-school program in Washington, D.C. and a college-aged program in New York City). The program team also manages a college scholarship program (the ACLU Emerging Advocates scholarship) and engages with its 6,000+ program alumni throughout the year.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. It is represented by ACLU Staff United (ASU).
Reporting to the Associate Director of the National Advocacy Institute, the Operations Assistant, will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, coordinating schedules and logistics, and supporting the team’s communications, data management, and program needs. For over 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States. Whether it’s ending mass incarceration, achieving full equality for the LGBTQ+ community, establishing new privacy protections for our digital age, or preserving the right to vote or the right to have an abortion, the ACLU takes up the toughest civil liberties cases and issues to defend all people.
