Position Overview: 

Beam is seeking a highly talented and motivated Operations/EHS Co-Op to join our growing TechOps team from June through December 2026. The Operations/EHS Co-Op will serve as an integral part of group that enables Beam’s cutting-edge science. They will be responsible for supporting the Operations team in day-to-day management of our office and lab facilities, learning all the myriad systems that run behind the scenes.  

Responsibilities: 

Contribute to all aspects of Lab Operations/Facility/EHS development, including: 

  • Support Beam’s on-going laboratory operations with an emphasis on supporting the procurement of lab consumables, lab gases, and vendor coordination (both onsite teams as well as equipment repairs, certifications and routine maintenance).
  • Triage and respond to work order requests.
  • Assist the facilities organization with moves, organization of common spaces, relocations, and event set up. 
  • Participate in enhancement of Beam’s Contractor Safety policies through use of various electronic platforms and coordination with vendors. Support onsite EHS activities and collaborate with site safety representatives.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize workflows.
  • Help with alarm response including equipment, cold storage, and life safety.
  • Maintain active list of furniture and office infrastructure repair needs. Procure quotes for common repairs/replacements for future needs.
  • Support front desk operations including inventorying and stocking printer stations and registering visitors. 
  • Additional tasks as required. 

Potential Projects: 

  • Update/maintain SOPs, WIs, etc. in Veeva with a focus on SOPs for shipping.
  • Revitalize Operations SharePoint and shared document libraries.
  • Gather and analyze Ops team metrics from 2025.
  • Develop a database of equipment that contain lasers and assign appropriate risk levels through collaboration with the EHS and Operations teams.
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analydis (JHA)/risk management, including associating current equipment lists with JHAs required during service or preventative maintenance activities.
  • Aid EHS in unlocking underutilized electronic resources intended to support onsite activities including developing dashboards and training, tracking KPIs, and updating content.   

Qualifications: 

  • Ability and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks including working with confidential information.
  • Capability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environmentand deliver on the most critical assignments on time.
  • Must have a positive "can do" attitude, be a consummate team player, and show excellent judgment and a strong willingness to participate and help others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Required.
  • Must be able to work onsite 5 days per week.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program and maintain their student status throughout the duration of the internship/co-op to be eligible. 

Hourly pay will will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
