About INSAIT:

INSAIT was founded in 2022, in partnership with Switzerland’s ETH Zurich and EPFL with the sole mission of creating the first world-class computer science and artificial intelligence institute in Eastern Europe. INSAIT is funded by the local government with an initial endowment of €85M over ten years, based on an international agreement ratified by the local parliament in late 2021. INSAIT is structured according to the latest and most successful academic practices: it employs the tenure-track system and provides world-class working conditions in terms of both salaries and benefits packages. These outstanding conditions are provided with the sole purpose of enabling INSAIT faculty members to focus on creating a vibrant, interdisciplinary and collaborative internationally recognized research program.

INSAIT is located in Sofia, Bulgaria. This vibrant, beautiful, and dynamically developing European capital is recognized by many expats as a great place to live and work with great flight connections to any destination in Europe. It is also viewed as one of the safest places for foreigners. The native language is Bulgarian, but many of the locals speak English fluently as well as other languages (German, French). Being part of the European Union (EU) allows INSAIT faculty to actively participate in all research-related Horizon Europe programs, including the prestigious ERC grant schemes.
