Ocean Import / export operative

The Ocean Import/Export Operative at Nippon Express Europe GmbH will play a vital role in the logistics process, ensuring efficient handling and management of ocean freight shipments. This position involves coordinating import and export operations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing import and export documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international shipping regulations.
  • Coordinating with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to facilitate smooth shipments.
  • Managing logistics and transportation arrangements, including booking containers, transport, and delivery schedules.
  • Handling customer inquiries and providing updates related to shipment status.
  • Monitoring and resolving issues related to ocean freight operations, such as delays or damage.
  • Assisting in the management of key accounts, building strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Updating and maintaining internal databases and systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure prompt service delivery and execution of customers' logistics needs.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in ocean freight operations.
  • Tracking and reporting on logistics performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in ocean freight import/export operations.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong understanding of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
    • Familiarity with freight forwarding and logistics management.
    • Proficiency in using logistics management software and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are a plus.
