Position Summary

  • Provides assessment and treatment of acute care in-patients at the Toronto Western Hospital
  • Provides evidence-based and patient centered practice to patients seen
  • Supports the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy in the acute care setting at TWH
  • Works with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participates in the clinical education of occupational therapy students
  • Participate in Allied Health meetings and quality initiatives
  • In cooperation with other members of the occupational therapy in-patient team, provides assessment and treatment for patients across the hospital as required, areas of coverage may include:
    • Emergency Department, Neurovascular, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Geriatrics, and ICU
  • Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists’ membership, preferred
  • Previous experience in an acute care Hospital environment, preferred
  • Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) certification, preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Must be physically capable of performing the daily activities associated with patient care and occupational therapy treatment
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of general internal medicine patients, Ortho/Msk patients, and patients with Neurological deficits
  • Demonstrated appropriate and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy
