Duties

  • The candidate will perform all other duties as required
  • The successful candidate will also fill the role of Stroke Outreach OT
  • Provide consultative assessment in the Stroke Prevention Clinic and TIA and Minor Stroke Unit, as well as support stroke education and participate in initiative development to optimize care for persons with stroke across the Toronto Stroke Network
  • Support the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy in the acute care setting at TWH
  • In collaboration with other members of the occupational therapy inpatient team, they will provide assessment and treatment for patients across the hospital; as required
  • Participate in the clinical education of occupational therapy students
  • Participate in Allied Health meetings and quality initiatives
  • Perform other functions consistent with the job classification, as required
  • Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Membership in the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists; preferred
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists; preferred
  • Previous experience in an acute care Hospital environment; preferred
  • Experience working with Neurovascular patients, stroke best practice, and current stroke care initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Must be physically capable of performing the daily activities associated with patient care and occupational therapy treatment
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of general internal medicine patients, Ortho/MSK patients, and patients with Neurological deficits
  • Demonstrated appropriate and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists’ membership preferred
  • Computer literacy
