Our Macraes mine is on the search for a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate to work with our staff across site. Responsible for managing and supporting occupational health services for the Macraes Operation including the development and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures, health monitoring, and injury and illness prevention, management and workplace rehabilitation.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct annual health checks on all employees at the Macraes Operation
- Undertake ergonomic assessments of work stations as necessary
- Conduct Exit Medicals as required
- Maintain and monitor health records from annual health checks, pre-employment and exit medicals
- Develop and assist with occupational health and hygiene monitoring programmes
- Secure and develop all records, equipment, and programmes related to occupational health services
- Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimise health of the work force
- Develop and implement health and well-being programmes for employees
- Contribute to the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to hazards in the work environment
- Assist in the evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines
- Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing return to work options for employees with restricted duty injuries or illnesses
- Conduct occupational hygiene monitoring, through the collection and preparation of samples and results. This includes accurately recording valid air monitoring and noise dosimetry samples, ambient noise, as well as respiratory and hearing protector device fit testing
- Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate
- Current Driver Licence, ability to manual preferred
- Formal skills in Occupational Hygiene, OHS, Engineering or relevant Science (would be beneficial)
- Relevant qualification and/or experience in Occupational Health
Experience:
- Proven experience working in the nursing field
- Experience in Occupational Hygiene, OHS or field sampling
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice, and the Privacy Act
- Competent computer skills in Microsoft suite including Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate & relate well to technical and non-technical staff
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
