The Naval Nuclear Laboratory, Knolls Nuclear Engineering is seeking an early-career Nuclear Facilities Engineer to join our team!

This role is responsible to develop technical work documents that incorporate engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene) necessary for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and/or nuclear material. The incumbent will be trained as an Engineer of Radiological Work with duties that will be focused on facility and infrastructure maintenance.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Maintaining project work schedules.

• Conducting field observations of work to validate compliance and quality

• Maintenance of Engineer of Radiological Work and supplemental qualifications.

• Other work as assigned by management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an

accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.

5-10 years of experience.

The candidate must have an active DOE or DOD clearance in order to be considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering or other related field

Experience in writing technical reports through education or work-related experience

Previous experience as an Engineer of Radiological Work and ability to rapidly qualify

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Radiation protection background through education or work-related experience

Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
