Role purpose

This role is a key to provide leadership to Operation, seed production, HSES, Operations at RD stations and drive operational excellence: the ability to identify and prioritize business initiatives with the highest impact, deliver high quality data on time, and support continuous improvement activities. This role needs to provides a positive, solutions oriented, challenging environment to improve operations in alignment with business strategies. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of sites and associated infrastructure (buildings, equipment, land), and the implementation of infrastructure investment in alignment with the regional strategy to support the R&D functional platform and strategies.

Accountabilities 

  • Lead operation team to deliver high quality trial and seed production to support breeding strategy.
  • Cooperate with Breeding Project Leads, Breeders, Pathologists, GPL Trait Geneticist in conducting pre-commercial trials, disease screening trials and seed production of various crops in station for whole year round.
  • Take a key role in capital projects and ensure infrastructure meets R&Ds current and future needs. Develop and manage station budgets and LRP (long range plan budget) by engaging with relevant stakeholders for demand plan of infrastructures which in line with regional direction and strategies.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement programs in all aspects of station operations.
  • Drive operational excellence and productivity improvement in designated site management teams (continuous improvement, benchmarking etc.)
  • Ensure that all fiscal and legal requirements are met at all designated sites and that all corporate (HSE, Competition Laws, etc.) policies are understood and fully implemented.
  • Ensure the promotion of a positive image for Syngenta and R&D both internally and externally, and ensure that the site management is actively contributing to the representation of the company with government representatives, NGOs, academia, industrial associations and societal institutions.
  • Supervise Farm supervisors in maintaining facilities and equipments for effective and efficient functioning of all programs.
  • Responsible for hiring and supervising support station team (7 full time employees) which includes HSES manager/officer, Adminstrative Assistants, Technical support supervisors, Farm supervisors.
  • Quality role-Responsible for implementing the Quality Policy, fostering the culture and behaviors that drive quality performance in their area of accountability, responsible to review and report on the quality performance of the products, services or processes under their responsibility

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Breeding or other related area. Business administrative
  • Understanding of the application of operations management or project management methodologies.
  • Ability to operate effectively across multicultural environments.
  • Successful track record in leadership and management of operations.
  • Ability to lead and unite a team and farm supervisors.
  • Ability to inspire, coach and develop staff.
  • Ability to think and work in complex structures and to lead across geographic area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Data and process driven.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the Takfah & Khon Kaen station.
  • Must sign a Non-Compete if offered this position.
