Nonprofit Senior Accountant

A respected, mission-driven faith-based nonprofit organization in Los Angeles is seeking a Nonprofit Senior Accountant to support its growing finance team. This organization operates with an annual budget of approximately $60M and manages a high volume of transactions and grant activity in support of local and international initiatives. The Senior Accountant will join a collaborative accounting department of more than 10 professionals and must bring 4+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit experience, along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Candidates should be comfortable in a structured, union-supported environment and able to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy setting. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a central role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. Key responsibilities include preparing and posting journal entries, completing detailed balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing financial transactions for accuracy and proper support, and assisting with month-end close activities. This individual will help ensure contribution revenue, pledges, and grant-related transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards, while partnering with internal teams to support clean and well-documented financial reporting. The organization mobilizes philanthropic resources to strengthen community security efforts, provide social services to vulnerable populations, cultivate leadership development, and respond to urgent needs both locally and abroad. Through strategic partnerships and coordinated funding efforts, it works to promote stability, safety, and long-term impact for the communities it serves. This is a direct hire opportunity based in Los Angeles with a hybrid schedule of 3–4 days in the office each week.
