The NGS Software Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a customer-facing platform that supports the adoption of NGS products and services. This role plays a key part in driving customer satisfaction and business growth through close collaboration with product management, marketing, and commercial teams. The Engineer will work within a Scrum team to deliver high-quality software solutions using modern technologies, including laboratory applications such as LIMS and ELNs, and custom-built client portal applications.

  • Develop, deliver, maintain, and continuously improve a customer-facing NGS portal integrated with LIMS and other lab systems.
  • Work within a small Scrum team to design and implement robust, high-quality software solutions using modern technologies.
  • Contribute to new digitalization initiatives for customer-facing processes and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Administer and maintain in-house client portal systems and perform ad-hoc technical tasks as required.
  • Support administration of a heterogeneous network of Linux and Windows servers, with access to confidential information.
  • Collaborate globally with product management, marketing, and commercial teams to define project scope and requirements.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, code reviews, and release management.
  • Continuously adopt the latest technologies, frameworks, and practices to improve efficiency and system performance.
  • Utilize relational database knowledge and, ideally, experience with statistics or big data analysis for KPI reporting.
  • Adhere to PPE policies and perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and develop solutions for emerging issues.
  • Strong team player focused on achieving organizational objectives.
  • Proficient in full MERN stack development (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
  • Advanced skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB and familiarity with relational databases such as MariaDB.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using Jira and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and source control best practices.
  • Familiarity with .NET technologies, including C# and ASP.NET, and Angular 16+ with RxJS and Signals.
  • Strong communication skills across teams and organizational levels; proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent English plus at least conversational German
