About the Role The Newsroom Operations Intern role is a learning opportunity working with Business Wire’s editorial leaders to experience the critical role Business Wire plays in the media landscape providing press release distribution and investor relations solutions. Under the direction of your mentors, you will learn how we evaluate content, prepare press releases and distribute information downstream. You will engage with related teams to see how we connect customers to news outlets through technology, innovation and commitment to customer service. After being coached on analyzing workflows and key performance indicators, you will be empowered to complete a research project leveraging your insights into an aspect of our operations. What You'll Do
  • Develop a foundational understanding of Business Wire’s newsroom operations and the role of press releases as a relevant communications tool, including their impact on media coverage, search visibility, regulatory compliance, and investor communications.
  • Gain insights into the services Business Wire provides connecting audiences with organizations.
  • Observe and participate in newsroom meetings and discussions to understand operational priorities, service levels, and production timelines.
  • Support editorial teams in content review procedures including document formatting, quality control checks, and adherence to company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Media Relations, Sales and Technology to understand how newsroom operations integrate with customer-facing and platform teams.
  • Contribute to data collection and analysis of newsroom performance metrics, including volume trends and provide a new perspective on operational efficiencies.
  • Help prepare basic reports and summaries using provided direction from mentors.
  • Complete an assigned research project focused on an operational, editorial, or strategic topic, culminating in a presentation of findings and recommendations to newsroom leadership.
  • What You'll Need
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Self-motivated, with stellar time-management skills (ability to effectively prioritize new and ongoing projects).
  • Courteous, professional, and effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, excelling at both high-level thinking and execution.
  • Basic technical skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in standard business applications (i.e., MS Word and Excel; Web, etc.).
  • Must be flexible with schedule, as needed.

  • This will be a 12-week internship starting on June 1, 2026.

    The pay rate for this position is $23/hour.
