We are seeking a motivated and experienced Neurosurgery Registrar to join the Neurosurgery Directorate on a short-term rolling basis. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a registrar with prior NHS neurosurgery experience to contribute to a busy tertiary neurosurgical centre, supporting both emergency and elective services.
Our client is one of the largest and busiest acute hospitals in the North West UK, offering specialist neurosurgical services for a wide regional population. This post provides valuable experience in a dynamic, high-acuity environment, supported by a collaborative consultant team.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing registrar-level support in theatres, on the wards, and during on-call duties. The role requires a strong clinical background in neurosurgery, excellent teamwork, and the ability to work independently under consultant supervision.
Deliver registrar-level neurosurgical care across elective and emergency settings.
Participate in theatre sessions, assisting with and performing neurosurgical procedures as appropriate to level of training and competence.
Provide inpatient care, including ward rounds, patient reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions.
Support the on-call rota, covering emergency admissions, acute referrals, and ward issues.
Supervise and support junior colleagues, contributing to their training and development.
Ensure high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and adherence to NHS Trust protocols.
Length: 1 Month fixed-term contract, with review and renew after 2 weeks
Rota: Includes normal working days (07:45–17:00), long days in theatre (07:45–19:30), and nights (20:00–08:30).
Start Date: Monday 29th September.
Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
Significant UK NHS experience as a Neurosurgery Registrar (essential).
Evidence of competence in managing neurosurgical patients in both elective and emergency settings.
Up-to-date DBS clearance.
Right to Work in the UK documentation.
Two recent clinical references (required at application stage).
