About the Role:
As a Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on security and operational excellence. You will serve as a technical expert and escalation point for complex issues, mentor peers, and drive platform maintenance and product testing initiatives. Your expertise will be critical in supporting Spectrotel’s robust suite of managed services, including voice, data, SD-WAN, and security solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and oversee implementation of highly secure, scalable, and redundant network infrastructures for large enterprise environments.
- Serve as the final escalation point for the most complex network and security incidents, providing expert guidance and resolution.
- Lead advanced engineering support for multi-vendor environments, including Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, and Meraki platforms.
- Develop and enforce enterprise-wide security policies, access control models, and incident response frameworks.
- Optimization of advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, MPLS, Segment Routing), including policy-based routing, route redistribution, and traffic engineering in multi-site, multi-cloud, and carrier-neutral architectures.
- Oversee SD-WAN and hybrid WAN deployments, integrating security and performance analytics.
- Lead technical product evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, and provide strategic feedback to product management.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Ensure rigorous documentation, change management, and compliance with industry standards.
- Stay ahead of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and evolving best practices in network security and automation.
- Collaborate with leadership and customers to align network and security strategies with business objectives. Lead engineering support for complex network and security issues, acting as the primary escalation point for Spectrotel resources and customer support teams.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures using Cisco and Fortinet routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair actions on SD-WAN platforms and carrier portals.
- Coordinate and execute planned and emergency maintenance events, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum security.
- Collaborate with customers on network design changes, security enhancements, and incident response.
- Conduct technical product testing and provide feedback to product management to ensure new solutions are secure, reliable, and well-documented.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and peers in advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and security best practices.
- Maintain daily updates in the ticketing system and ensure thorough documentation of all activities.
- Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in network security.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in network architecture, engineering, and operations supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
- Mastery in configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, MPLS, Segment Routing) and complex multi-homed, multi-cloud topologies.
- Deep expertise in network security, including Unified Threat Management, Zero Trust architectures, and advanced threat detection/response.
- Proven experience with SD-WAN, carrier-grade platforms, and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong background in automation and scripting for network orchestration and security compliance
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
- Fortinet NSE 4 or higher.
- Additional certifications in cloud networking, security (CISSP, CISM), and automation are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco or Fortinet Certified intermediate or senior-level certification.
- Experience designing and operating global networks with high availability and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with private and public cloud virtualization platforms (VMware, AWS, etc.), VoIP/Unified Communications, and 4G/5G services.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes.
- Experience with network automation and scripting.
