The Senior Network Administrator manages, maintains, and secures enterprise network infrastructure for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. This role ensures network reliability, performance, and compliance with DoD standards, serving as a senior escalation point for complex network issues.
Essential functions.
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems on close restricted network.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex connectivity, routing, and security issues.
- Implement, manage, and maintain VLANs, VPNs, and other network segmentation techniques.
- Apply and enforce network security measures to comply with DoD cybersecurity standards.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, standard operating procedures, and diagrams.
- Ensure compliance with DoD IT policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
Competencies/Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise network architectures, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and wireless.
- Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access controls.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to mentor junior network staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Education Requirements:
Required education and experience

High school Diploma or equivalent with 5-8 years of experience.
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Cisco CCNA certification or higher
Preferred education and experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in informational technology or similar discipline
- Prior experience supporting DoD and/or Federal government customers
- MD-102 certification
Work environment
- The position operates in a secure facility where occasional loud noises may occur.
- Work may require moving between offices or meeting spaces, with brief exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- The primary workspace is located in an enclosed, windowless area.
