TLDR

Lead a team of Background Screening professionals while ensuring timely, accurate processing of background checks and driving continuous performance improvement across multiple metrics.

National Center for Safety Initiatives, LLC (NCSI), a SportsEngine company and part of VERSANT, is seeking a full time Supervisor.

Youth & Recreational Sports is comprised of technology platforms, such as SportsEngine, SportsEngine Motion, SportsEngine Tourney, and TeamUnify that enable athletes, parents, coaches and team administrators in the youth and recreational space to manage their organizations, collect payments, share schedules, find programs to participate in and connect with other families. Additionally, NCSI enables leagues and organizations to properly screen and train coaches in an effort to keep kids safe.

The NCSI Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Background Screening professionals to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of background checks. This role drives daily performance through coaching, monitoring key metrics such as productivity, quality, and turnaround time, and reinforcing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The Supervisor partners cross-functionally to support operational priorities, client expectations, and evolving regulatory and safety requirements.

Job Duties

  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of 5+ employees to achieve performance and quality standards.
  • Oversee individual and group workspaces to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with each team member to review performance, provide feedback, and support development.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training and refresher sessions to enhance team performance.
  • Create, manage, and participate in Leadership Development Plans (LDPs) and related meetings
  • Review and maintain the KPI tracker to ensure accurate performance reporting
  • Manage and maintain the Time Off Calendar to ensure proper staffing coverage and scheduling efficiency
  • Monitor and respond to the Affirm channel as needed
  • Oversee the File Request channel to ensure requests are completed promptly and efficiently
  • Monitor and manage the Error Hold workspace, including:
    • Reviewing error-related emails
    • Entering and documenting potential errors
    • Ensuring all identified errors are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Support operational demands by processing screens during downtime or peak workload periods
  • Continuously review, update, and enhance the Screening Manual to ensure procedures are accurate and current
  • Monitor productivity metrics and implement corrective action plans when needed
  • Provide weekly performance recaps to management outlining
    • Productivity results
    • Operational updates
    • Risks or concerns
    • Action plans and improvement strategies

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, customer service, compliance, or a related high-volume environment
  • 1+ year of experience in a lead, supervisor, or people leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate employees to meet performance expectations
  • Experience managing team performance using key metrics such as productivity, quality, accuracy, and turnaround time
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to hold team members accountable through clear expectations, feedback, and performance management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization
  • Analytical mindset with experience using reports or dashboards to monitor performance and identify trends

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in background screening, employment verification, or consumer reporting environments
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance requirements (FCRA, state-specific reporting laws, or similar regulatory frameworks)
  • Experience working in industries focused on risk, safety, compliance, or regulated services
  • Experience supporting operational change, process improvements, or new product implementations

Additional Requirements

  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-VERSANT worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel domestically for business meetings, training and team events as needed.
  • Background Check: This position requires the successful completion of an annual background check due to accreditation requirements.
