About ACCEL Schools

ACCEL Schools is a growing network of public charter schools serving students across the United States. We operate a diverse portfolio of schools—including a robust and expanding group of fully online K–12 schools—committed to delivering rigorous academics, innovative learning experiences, and strong student and family support.

We believe that online students deserve more than just access to instruction—they deserve meaningful opportunities for community, social development, and future readiness. That’s where you come in.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary National Student & Family Community Coordinator to design and lead our student engagement and community-building initiatives across our online school network. This role is central to ensuring that students and families feel connected, supported, and empowered within our virtual learning environment.

This role is responsible for building a vibrant national ecosystem of support, enrichment, and connection—creating virtual student life experiences, parent support networks, co-curricular programming, and college/career readiness opportunities that rival the best offerings in the virtual education landscape.

The ideal candidate will be a creative organizer and empathetic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, remote-first setting. You will collaborate with school leaders, counselors, teachers, and families to develop dynamic virtual experiences—including clubs, events, competitions, and resources—that foster social connection, support student well-being, and prepare learners for future academic and career success.

Key Responsibilities

National Engagement Strategy & Platform Development

  • Lead the visioning, design, and execution of a national student and family engagement plan to support ACCEL’s online schools.
  • Benchmark against other online school networks to develop a competitive, scalable suite of offerings that enhances community, retention, and student satisfaction.

Student Life & Co-Curricular Programming

  • Develop and manage a national calendar of virtual events, interest-based clubs, competitions, leadership opportunities, and social experiences tailored to each age group (K–5, 6–8, 9–12).
  • Launch and support student-led initiatives and governance opportunities to foster agency and belonging.

Parent & Family Support Networks

  • Build and moderate an inclusive virtual community for ACCEL families, including parent workshops, support groups, newsletters, and interactive communication channels.
  • Provide families with resources and tools to better support their students in a virtual learning environment.
  • Conduct surveys and focus groups to identify student and family needs. Develop guides, toolkits, and engagement plans to support community-building and enrichment activities across schools.

College & Career Readiness Programming

  • Partner with schools and student support staff to develop national college and career programming—such as virtual college tours, speaker series, job shadowing, and mentorship programs.
  • Develop toolkits and events supporting transitions from middle to high school and from high school to postsecondary pathways.

Cross-School Collaboration & Partnership

  • Serve as a liaison and thought partner for school leaders, student success teams, and counselors to align and enhance local efforts within a broader national context.
  • Maintain strong lines of communication with school staff to identify emerging needs, promote successful practices, and scale effective programming.

Program Management & Evaluation

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and measurable goals for all initiatives.
  • Monitor participation, collect feedback, and continuously improve programs based on data and stakeholder input.
  • Ensure all programming is inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and reflective of diverse student identities and experiences.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Youth Development, Social Work, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in virtual school programming, student engagement, family support, school programming, student affairs, or related areas
