This position reports to the Senior Category Marketing Manager for Retail of Mr D.

Your responsibilities will include:

Campaign Execution & Demand Generation

  • Execute marketing activities to drive traffic, orders, and conversion rates across Retail verticals
  • Support channel execution including push notifications, in-app messaging, email, paid social, merchandising and organic content
  • Coordinate briefs and deliverables with internal teams, agencies, and partners to ensure on-time launches and operationally manage various campaign deliverables
  • Manage campaign workbacks, timelines, and status trackers; flag dependencies and risks early
  • Ideate and Manage creative assets, ensure spec compliance, and manage approvals through the process

Promotional Planning & Calendar Management

  • Maintain and update the Mr D Demand Planner and promotional calendars for Retail initiatives
  • Own weekly updates to the Demand Planner inputs; ensure accuracy and flag slippages proactively
  • Coordinate weekly deals and monthly promotional campaigns aligned with business objectives
  • Set up and QA promotions, vouchers, bundles, and offers to drive order volume and average order value
  • Oversee daily tracking of coupon budgets allocated for marketing activities
  • Plan and coordinate monthly coupon budgets to align with marketing strategies and objectives

Category-Specific Marketing (Retail/Shops)

  • Deliver tailored campaigns for Shops, Anchor Tenants, and Grocery categories to drive sustained growth
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of consumer target market groups to co-create meaningful promotional strategies
  • Collaborate with Retail Merchandising and Category Manager teams to develop and implement campaigns aligned with the promo calendar
  • Maintain merchandising inputs (collections, placements, copy updates) in coordination with Merchandising and Ads teams
  • Pull and review category performance data to identify trends and opportunities for acquisition, retention, and reactivation
  • Support onboarding tasks for new retail partners and categories (asset collection, listing readiness, checklists)

Feature Launches & Educational Content

  • Drive new feature launches and create sustained always-on educational content on product features and differentiators
  • Coordinate launch assets, help content, FAQs, and in-app placements for retail features
  • Prepare internal enablement materials (one-pagers, how-tos) for commercial and support teams
  • Assist with rollout communications (email/push/in-app) ensuring customer education content is accurate and on-brand

Data-Driven Decision Making & Reporting

  • Pull daily, weekly, and monthly reports and maintain dashboards for key KPIs (traffic, conversion, AOV, total orders)
  • Compile post-campaign reports/readouts summarising performance insights, learnings, and next steps
  • Maintain excellent data hygiene: complete UTM coverage, accurate tagging, and consistent tracking
  • Coordinate with analytics and product teams to ensure tracking coverage for all campaigns and promotions
  • Execute basic A/B tests (subject lines, creatives, audiences, regional variations) and document learnings

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with brand, content, performance and social teams on through-the-line Retail and Mr D brand campaigns
  • Liaise with social media team on monthly content planning, preparation, and paid influencer partnerships
  • Coordinate influencer deliverables and tracking; maintain up-to-date influencer content logs
  • Work with performance media and CRM teams to create and implement strategies to grow orders and first-time buyers
  • Collaborate with Takealot Group marketing representatives for Retail-specific campaigns to cross-sell and access new shoppers

Market Share & Brand Awareness

  • Support brand-building and market-differentiation initiatives in the retail delivery space
  • Assist with on-the-ground activations, partnership executions, and campaign asset localisation
  • Help deliver cohesive campaigns that elevate the Mr D brand across touchpoints

Skills, knowledge and abilities: 

  • Strong execution mindset with excellent organisation and attention to detail; able to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Data-literate with solid Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting)
  • Working knowledge of analytics tools (GA4 or similar) and comfortable interpreting campaign performance data
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Braze, Asana or similar) and basic ad platforms (Meta/Google Ads) preferred
  • Comfortable with CMS/merchandising updates and asset specifications; basic Canva or design skills are a plus
  • Clear written and verbal communication; strong collaborative stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment
  • Proven academic track record and career success  

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree (3+ years) in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
  • 3-5 years of retail and marketing experience (Retail/FMCG, eCommerce, marketplace, or app-based environments strongly preferred)
  • Experience working across multiple marketing channels - Digital, ATL, CRM, Partnerships - with demonstrable results
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and to brief
  • Internship or placement experience welcome if accompanied by hands-on execution across CRM, paid social, or merchandising tools
