Midwife - Japan

About This Role:

Maven is looking for a mission-driven, empathetic Midwife based in Japan, Hong Kong, or Australia who is fluent in Japanese to support our members through virtual care services.

What You'll Do:

• Provide virtual care care and support to women and their families while pregnant, throughout labor, and during the period after a baby's birth via 10-minute video consults and asynchronous messaging. This includes:
  • Decisions on all labor and delivery options at hospital, birth centers, or home births
  • Postpartum care, including breastfeeding, vaginal discharge and incontinence issues
  • Perinatal mood disorders, such as postpartum depression and anxiety
• Capture encounter summary documentation in our practice management system, MPractice
• Collaborate with Maven’s Care Delivery team to ensure member needs are met, including recommendations for in-person referrals and follow-ups
• Serve as an ambassador of Maven’s unique care model, providing culturally humble care and championing our belief that better outcomes for women and families mean a better world for everyone

Who You Are: 

• Licensed Midwife in Japan, in good standing with all applicable regulatory bodies under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare
• Hold a recognized midwifery qualification and national certification in Japan, typically following licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Board-certified or registered through the Japan Society of Midwifery or equivalent recognized professional organization (preferred)
• Currently residing in Japan, Singapore, or Australia
• Fluent in Japanese and English (written and verbal)
• No history of medical malpractice, disciplinary action, or loss/restriction of professional practice privileges
• Able to provide approximately 2 hours of member care per week; this is a part-time, independent contractor role
• Comfortable delivering care through a digital health platform (prior telehealth experience preferred)
• Passionate about improving outcomes for women, infants, and families
