- Engineering Culture
- This team is responsible for recruitment across the entire Mercari Group, including new businesses, with mid-career recruiters placed in charge of either engineering/creative areas or business/corporate areas. Each recruiter leverages their expertise to lead hiring for specific roles across the group.
- In this position, you will be responsible for planning and carrying out recruitment strategies aimed at acquiring engineering and creative talent, which are core to the growth of Mercari Group. Specific areas of responsibility will be determined taking into account your experience and preferences, as well as the company's needs.

Work Responsibilities
- Planning and carrying out overall recruitment activities in engineering and creative domains based on business strategy and organizational/technical direction
- Carrying out recruitment activities from a global perspective, including collaboration with Mercari’s overseas offices and hiring international talent
- In addition to event planning/operation and direct sourcing methods, formulating and carrying out bold recruitment strategies that maximize all assets and diverse channels available to Mercari
- Leading relationship building and collaboration with internal and external partners to promote recruitment activities with a focus on candidate experience
- Carrying out recruitment tasks including document screening, skill assessments, interviews, progress management, offers, closing, and onboarding support

Unique Challenges
- This position offers opportunities to challenge yourself to plan and carry out global recruitment strategies for excellent candidates with diverse backgrounds all over the world.
- As part of the AI-Native direction across the entire Mercari Group, you will be involved in formulating cutting-edge recruitment policies and strategies regarding new role definitions and hiring processes necessary in the AI era.
- In addition to engineering, you will also be involved in hiring for positions in creative areas such as designers and UX researchers, as well as positions in business and corporate areas as necessary for the organization.
- Through participation in domestic and international tech conferences and event planning, you will be able to contribute to Mercari's branding and build networks with external communities.
- You will be involved in recruitment across a wide range of businesses and cutting-edge technology areas, not only for the Mercari marketplace app but also for the Fintech businesses Merpay and Mercoin, as well as new businesses. You will be able to gain experience addressing recruitment challenges faced by each technology area and business by understanding the overall group strategy.
Qualifications
- Required Experience/Skills
- Shared belief in the mission and values of Mercari Group and its various companies
- Three or more years of experience in recruitment-related tasks at a business company or recruitment agency
- Experience using both Japanese and English in a professional setting
- Experience working in planning and project management for recruitment-related projects
- A strong curiosity and willingness to learn about the latest technologies, businesses, products, organizations, and market trends
- Ability to identify and define necessary talent based on the current state of the organization and successfully recruit that talent
- Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience in planning and promoting employer branding (event planning and administration, operation of owned media, etc.)
- Experience recruiting for engineering/creative-related positions
- Experience recruiting global talent outside of Japan
- Knowledge and experience related to diversity & inclusion (D&I)
- Knowledge of and experience in utilizing AI and data analysis
- Language
- Japanese: Independent (CEFR - B2)
- English: Independent (CEFR - B2)
