Primary Function of Position

The purpose of this position is to manage a team of engineering technicians that perform all corrective maintenance for the Equipment on the Manufacturing Lines to maintain the production operation.

  • Build a team of engineering technicians with the skills required to provide day-to-day support to address equipment issues that arise during the operational shifts while maintaining compliance to our QMS.
  • Organize his/her team to provide corrective maintenance of our equipment to keep them performing as intended on all MP lines.
  • Build a set of KPI’s (MTTA, MTTR, MTBT), monitor and report this to the Engineering and Operations teams and continuously improve these.
  • Create and drive multi-year strategic plan for process improvement projects within his team.
  • Identify, create and/or update Equipment event notifications and any related documentation to meet standards and regulation required by our QMS.
  • Create a training plan for his/her team that will allow maintenance technicians to perform in several lines.
  • Create and/or updated list(s) of spares needed to maintain the factory and monitor effectiveness and completeness of the list so that lines do not go down due to missing spares.
  • Responsible for department budget planning (HC, Supplies, equipment purchases) and expense management to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Create a process that ensures the correct number of resources are available at the correct time to maintain equipment performing as intended in all Manufacturing lines as required per SIOP build plan.
  • Select personnel and evaluate performance within the annual MERIT process, providing for his/her direct reports.
  • Ensure the establishment of succession plans for critical positions of the Company and promote and facilitate professional growth within his/her team.
  • Promote and model behaviors within his/her team aligned to Intuitive culture.

Required Skills and Experience (Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)

  • Proven working experience as Equipment Engineering Manager or related.
  • Experience leading people in a technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with complex equipment required (mechanical, electrical, automation).
  • Strong analytical skills required to fix complex equipment.
  • High communication skills in English (Advanced professional level).
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Required Education and Training: 

  • BS in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or related engineering discipline).

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 (preferred).
  • Experience in the medical industry (preferred).
