Job Description: Methylaluminoxane (MAO) Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Methylaluminoxane (MAO) Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the research, development, and production of methylaluminoxane, a crucial component in the production of metallocene catalysts used in the polymerization process of olefins. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, experience with organometallic compounds, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Development:

    • Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize MAO synthesis processes.
    • Analyze and interpret data to improve MAO quality and production efficiency.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate MAO with metallocene catalysts for polymerization processes.

Production Management:

    • Oversee the production of MAO, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for MAO production.
    • Monitor and control production processes to maintain consistent quality and yield.

Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and best practices in handling and processing MAO.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Technical Support:

    • Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
    • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on MAO production techniques and safety protocols.
    • Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to MAO and organometallic chemistry.

Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase production capacity.
    • Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and methods in the production of MAO.
    • Collaborate with R&D and quality assurance teams to ensure continuous product improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. A master’s or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Proven experience in the synthesis and handling of organometallic compounds, particularly MAO.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, including reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and process control.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in chemical manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metallocene catalysts and polymerization processes.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques used to characterize MAO, such as NMR, GC-MS, and FTIR.
  • Experience with process scale-up from laboratory to pilot plant and full-scale production.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may involve working in a laboratory and industrial plant environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for training, conferences, or collaboration with other facilities.
