Joining Cuculus as a Meter Integration & DLMS Subject Matter Expert (SME) means becoming part of a team committed to innovation, customer satisfaction, and continuous learning role focuses on end-to-end smart meter integration with Head-End Systems (HES) ensuring reliable communication, accurate data exchange and stable field performance across large-scale deployments.
Strong hands-on expertise in Smart meters, DLMS/COSEM protocol and HES platforms with the ability to troubleshoot issues, validate configurations and ensure accurate data flow from meter to system.

What is the role about?

Key Responsibilities:

• Integrate LT, HT, CT-operated, feeder, DT and prepaid meters with HES
• Validate meter configurations, OBIS mapping and data models
• Ensure correct implementation of DLMS/COSEM objects and profiles
• Handle multi-vendor interoperability challenges
• Debug DLMS communication (HDLC / TCP-IP)
• Handle AARQ/AARE association issues, authentication failures and session handling
• Validate OBIS codes for billing, instantaneous, load profile, and event registers
• Work on LN referencing and COSEM object structures
• Troubleshoot data gaps, incorrect readings and communication failures in HES
• Strong understanding of critical smart meter program use cases including prepaid operations (credit update, disconnect/reconnect), tamper detection, demand and load limiting, outage events, tariff updates, push/pull data flows, and end-to-end meter to HES data consistency
• Configure push/pull mechanisms for optimized data flow
• Handle key smart metering use cases including prepaid operations, on demand reads (ODR), scheduled push, maximum demand (MD), firmware updates, load curtailment, and profile data validation for reporting and analytics
• Validate tariff updates and demand control scenarios
• Use DLMS simulators for testing and validation
• Ensure compliance with IEC 62056 and IS 15959 standards
• Identify root cause of communication and integration issues

Technical Fit:

• Strong understanding of AMI ecosystem and smart meter architecture
• Experience with DLMS/COSEM protocol and OBIS mapping
• Hands-on with HES platforms and communication debugging
• Ability to interpret event logs, tamper data, load profiles and billing registers

Preferred Knowledge:

• Familiarity with smart metering, AMI, HES, and MDMS systems is an added advantage.

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or related field
• 10–15 years of experience in smart metering / AMI / integration
• Strong experience with DLMS/COSEM and OBIS structures
• Hands-on with DLMS tools, simulators and protocol analyzers
• Experience in prepaid metering, load control and event analysis
• Knowledge of IEC 62056 and IS 15959 standards
• Experience in multi-vendor meter environments is an advantage
• Familiarity with RF Mesh, GPRS, PLC, NB-IoT communication
