Mental Health Support Practitioner

$25 – $31 per hour

Provide personalized digital mental health care to youth aged 13-25 through structured wellness coaching and behavioral health interventions, optimizing resilience and support.

We bring this mission to life through Soluna, California’s first-in-the-nation digital behavioral health service for 13–25-year-olds. Soluna removes barriers to care by providing nearly immediate access to 1:1 coaching, Care Navigation, and self-guided tools helping young people find real support, build resilience, and discover hope when they need it most. What We’re Looking For: 

Role Objective:

Help individuals develop achievable and measurable goals to monitor success and motivate behavioral change. Provide on-platform behavioral health care to children and youth accessing the service.

Providing Structured Wellness Coaching:

  • Prevention, wellness promotion and psychoeducation through structured coaching sessions
  • Care coordination & case management 
  • Offering Behavioral Health/ Wellness Coaching interventions
  • Develop individualized care plans to effectively goal set and action plan for positive behavioral change
  • Risk assessment and mitigation 
  • Optimize positive mental health by addressing  determinants of positive mental health
  • Minimize mental health problems by  addressing determinants of mental health problems 
  • Work with users to determine their problem areas, identify obstacles, and create a plan to achieve their wellness goals

Providing Single Session Wellness Coaching:

  • Applies user-centered design processes, including user research, persona development, and usability testing, to create designs that meet user needs and enhance user experiences.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Care coordination & case management 
  • To effectively goal set and action plan for positive behavioral change, based on individual needs
  • Risk assessment and mitigation 
  • Prevention, wellness promotion and psychoeducation through drop-in, single-session coaching 
  • Offering Behavioral Health/ Wellness Coaching interventions
  • Optimize positive mental health by addressing  determinants of positive mental health
  • Minimize mental health problems by  addressing determinants of mental health problems

Screening and Assessment:

  • Mental Health & wellness screening, assessment and progress monitoring 
  • Risk assessment and mitigation 
  • Identify individual users who are experiencing or are at risk of  experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties 
  • Identify and support a person in crisis and know when to facilitate referrals

Moderation of Submitted Content:

  • Moderation of service user submitted content following policy and procedures
  • Risk assessment and mitigation 
  • Optimize positive mental health by addressing  determinants of positive mental health
  • Minimize mental health problems by  addressing determinants of mental health problems 
  • Moderating Journals & Goals
  • Appropriately and encouraging engagement relevant to presenting issues
  • Performing all duties in line with relevant compliance, legal requirements and internal policies with particular reference to children, young people and adult safeguarding and protection, and data protection legislation

Warm Hand Offs:

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and managing multiple projects. Embraces feedback and continuously seeks opportunities for learning and professional development to stay updated with the latest design trends and advancements.

Attending supervision, training, meetings:

  • Attend and effectively contribute to clinical supervision.
  • Commit to our mandatory in-house training and continuing professional development opportunities.
  • Attend and effectively contribute to both performance management and team meetings

Administration:

  • Maintain accurate records in line with Kooth’s policies and procedures, and approved systems and processes.
  • Liaise with other professionals around safeguarding issues and concerns.
  • Support operational aspects of Kooth to ensure consistent, reliable, and repeatable experiences

Schedule & Availability Requirements:

To ensure consistent coverage for our team, the successful candidate must be available during the following window:

  • Tuesday through Friday: 3:30 PM – 10:00 PM PT
  • Saturday: 3:30 PM – 10:00 PM PT
  • Total Hours: 24 hours per week.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring: 

Education/Qualifications:

  • BA level mental health degrees, eg BA in Psychology or Social Work
  • MA level mental health degree, not licensed
  • National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
  • National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor
  • Community Health Worker
  • Permanently reside within the US 48 contiguous states
  • Six months experience as a crisis worker and /or volunteer experience providing crisis support services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation: This role offers an hourly rate of $25 to $31, based on experience. We’re committed to transparency and value our candidates time, which is why we share salary ranges in all states—regardless of local requirements. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including your education, experience, skills, and overall alignment with the role.
