As a Mental Health Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you will play a vital role within our mental health care team, providing essential support to patients with schizophrenia who are participating in a drug trial. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, make quick decisions, and demonstrate empathy will be key to ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the assessment of patients’ mental health conditions and helping to prioritise care based on individual needs.
  • Providing initial support and interventions to stabilise patients, including basic mental health care measures when required.
  • Monitoring and accurately documenting patients’ mental health status, symptoms, and any changes in their condition.
  • Supporting the medical team with mental health assessments and assisting in interpreting results.
  • Administering medication and supporting treatments as directed by physicians.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience in a relevant mental health setting (within the last 12–18 months).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and reliability, with a willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and days.
  • A current DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check – assistance can be provided if required.
