Role
We’re looking for a strategic and results-driven Membership Strategy Director to build, launch, and scale our global membership program - driving growth, retention, and engagement. This is a key role at the intersection of Marketing and Product - requiring close collaboration with both teams to not only define and evolve the membership value proposition, but to work hand-in-glove with Product to ensure seamless delivery through our platforms and tools.
You’ll be at the forefront of designing / mapping the end-to-end member journey, ensuring the best possible experience across all touchpoints. This includes shaping our engagement strategy across content interaction, churn management, CRM, and advocacy to deliver meaningful member experiences and measurable growth.
You’ll bring experience running large-scale membership or loyalty schemes and a proven ability to translate customer insight into commercially scalable initiatives. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong leadership. You’ll set the long-term vision while empowering your team to deliver impactful, insight-driven engagement programs.
Reporting to the CMO, this role is based at our London HQ.
Key Role Responsibilities
Strategy & Ownership:
● Define audience revenue generation and drive cross-selling of current future and partner products and services.
● Develop a commercial, scalable membership model that delivers long-term customer value and supports company growth.
● Translate customer and market insights into a clear product vision and roadmap for the membership experience.
● Drive delivery of the membership programme by effectively managing cross functional stakeholders and third-party partners.
Data Insights:
● Liaise with the Data Scientist to gather, analyse and interpret data to understand member behaviour, engagement, and churn drivers.
● Use these insights to inform strategies around retention, engagement programs, and product improvements that enhance overall performance.
Execution & Growth:
● Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Operations, and Commercial teams to align on strategy, execution, and measurement - ensuring every initiative is insight-led, user-centric, and drives tangible commercial outcomes.
● Lead the execution of the membership strategy with a clear focus on commercial growth, positioning members as the foundation of the PTO’s revenue ecosystem. Through targeted communications, content, and activations, convert engagement into direct and indirect spend across our products, events, and partnerships.
● Own the full member lifecycle - from acquisition and onboarding through engagement, renewal, and reactivation - maximising participation, loyalty, and share of wallet.
● Continuously evaluate performance across acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue metrics, using data and experimentation to deepen member investment and accelerate top-line growth.
Who we’re looking for / Profile
● 7 + years of Proven experience in strategy of loyalty program development, customer engagement, and retention.
● Experience leading subscription or loyalty programs
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to commission and interpret data and drive actionable insights.
● Line management experience and proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organisation, influencing and driving results without direct authority
● Strong project management skills with good negotiation and persuasion are essential as you work with others to deliver membership experiences.
● Adept at strategic thinking and long-term vision setting for a function.
● Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
● Experience at building membership products and working with or within a product team to deliver products effectively
● Direct experience managing a P&L or owning key business growth metrics.
● Familiarity with marketing laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR).
