Job Title: Medior Automation Tester

Location: Bengaluru (Hybrid)
Experience: 3-7 years
Employment Type: Full-time

Role summary

Independently designs and scales maintainable UI/API automation, improves pipeline reliability, and raises the quality bar across a team. Acts as a go-to for test strategy within a product area.

What you’ll do

· Design and implement test architecture patterns (fixture layering, test data builders, API + UI flow tests) in Playwright/TypeScript.

· Build robust API suites including contract tests, error-path checks, and schema validation.

· Own a slice of the pipeline in GitLab: parallelization, caching, artifacts, reporting, environment config.

· Establish traceability in Jira/Xray: build reusable test plans, dashboards, and coverage views.

· Lead root-cause analysis for flaky tests; implement retries/timeouts judiciously; use Playwright Trace Viewer/HAR to diagnose.

· Introduce quality gates (lint, type-check, smoke packs) and sensible test pyramid balance.

· Mentor juniors through code reviews and pairing; propose incremental quality improvements.

Must-have

· 3–7 years in test automation (or equivalent impact) with tools like Playwright + TypeScript in production.

· Strong API automation (REST), auth flows (OAuth/JWT), and test data management.

· Proficient Git (branching strategy, rebasing, resolving complex conflicts).

· Practical GitLab CI/CD: matrix builds, Dockerised jobs, artifacts, test reports (e.g., JUnit/Allure) and basic YAML templating.

· Working knowledge of Jira/Xray (test design, versions, plans, executions, requirement coverage).

· Familiarity with Node.js project tooling (npm/yarn, tsconfig, workspace structure).

· Mobile test automation.

· Very good communication skills. Can clearly explain test automation strategies, results, and risks to technical and business stakeholders.

· Collaborate effectively with developers, product owners, and leadership.

· A good team player.

Nice-to-have

· Contract testing and mocking/stubbing strategies.

· k6 or similar for basic performance smoke checks within CI.

· Cloud/dev env basics and environment configuration.

· Good SQL.
