The Medical Director & Team Lead serves as both a scientific owner and people leader across oncology and patient education portfolio. This role drives scientific integrity, learning effectiveness, and cross-functional alignment across CME/CE, patient-facing programs, publications, and strategic partnerships. In addition to hands-on content leadership, this role mentors a team of Medical Directors to ensure excellence, accountability, and continuous innovation in execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Scientific Strategy & Content Leadership
· Lead slide development and scientific review of CME/CE and patient program content.
· Collaborate with presenting KOLs to ensure accuracy, flow, fair balance, and ACCME-compliant education.
· Lead kick-off calls with PMs, faculty, and content writers to establish goals, tone, and learning strategy.
· Review all faculty and internal decks for accuracy and flow, adhering to scheduled timelines.
· Ensure plain-language and health literacy standards are met in patient-facing education.
Marketing, Business Development & Scientific Storytelling
· Provide guidance to Marketing and Communications on scientific messaging and targeting for campaigns.
· Support Business Development by advising on new educational concepts, evidence-based positioning, and supporter discussions.
· Co-develop concepts and scientific narratives for BD decks and B2B presentations.
Outcomes & Data-Driven Insight Development
· Collaborate with the Outcomes Team to interpret results, extract key scientific takeaways, and define next educational steps.
· Co-develop pre/post questions and continuously refine methodology to elevate outcomes rigor.
Abstracts, Publications & Scientific Recognition
· Lead development of abstracts, posters, and presentations for conferences.
· Mentor team members on authorship, data curation, and formatting across channels (e.g., PQHE, ACCME posters).
· Present posters/publications at medical conferences as needed.
Partnership Development
· Collaborate with advocacy groups, Centers of Excellence, foundations, and society partners to co-develop and refine educational content.
· Attend partnership meetings and identify new scientific/business opportunities.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
· Delegate workload to Medical Directors across the oncology team, ensuring alignment with submission cadence and therapeutic priorities.
· Lead weekly 1:1 status updates with Medical team members to provide feedback, resolve challenges, and drive accountability.
· Mentor team in implementation efforts, ensuring consistent adherence to education learning principles and PQHE standards.
· Maintain department SOPs and training materials to support cross-functional clarity.
· Provide performance feedback to VP, Medical Oncology or VP, Education.
