PURPOSE:

  • Inspects materials to ensure they comply with defined requirements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that materials entering operations department meet design and customer requirements by inspecting and confirming dimensions, visual/cosmetic attributes, functional requirements, and supporting documentation
  • Compare measurements against established requirements, determine pass/fail, and document any non-conforming material 
  • Conduct Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) part setup and operation utilizing fixturing and probe calibration
  • Develop inspection methods and set-ups
  • Develop and use Inspection Sampling Plans with assistance of the QA Manager and QA Engineering
  • Originate and maintain all inspection records 
  • Originate Nonconformance Reports in the internal system
  • Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities
  • Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection to verify weld quality and workmanship
  • Perform mechanical calibration of inspection and measurement tools and administers calibration system

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma required
    • Associate Degree in related field or certificate from technical school highly preferred.
    • ASQ Certified Inspector preferred
    • 2 years-experience inspecting product in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
    • CMM programming software knowledge

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Proficient in the use of inspection and measurement hand tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauge, etc.)
    • Ability to read and decipher blueprint layouts & GD&T
    • Ability to read electrical/mechanical diagrams, spec sheets, and outline drawings
    • Good communication skills, verbal and written
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Standing 95%
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
