By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs without supervision during the normal working day and when on callout duty
  • Supplying and maintaining in good order, a comprehensive range of basic Fitter’s tools
  • Participating in the training of staff and undertaking training necessary for completing the role fully
  • Comprehensively completing appropriate documents as deemed necessary by the supervisor
  • Inspecting and supervising work carried out by contractors when directed by a Mechanical Supervisor
  • Operation of a MEWP and driving a Forklift Truck

Requirements

  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at height due to the nature of the plant
  • Experience in the repair and overhaul of key mechanical systems such as boilers, steam turbines, pumps, fans, compressors, and hydraulic systems
  • Familiarity with a wide range of plant equipment including conveyors, cranes, abatement systems (e.g. FGT, ETP), and fire protection systems

Other desirable skills and experience include:

  • Demonstrates determination, takes ownership of tasks, and shows a high level of interest and responsibility in completing assignments
  • Works well with others and is available for call-outs outside normal working hours when required
  • Applies a logical approach to fault finding and resolving issues efficiently
  • Holds relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds), has completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training, and has hands-on experience in EFW, power stations, or similar industrial environments
